On the Feminine Side of Wieden

Where vineyards once grew and the Wien River wound wildly through the landscape, today lies the vibrant neighborhood around the Old Technical University. This is where our walk through the feminine history of Wieden, 4th District of Vienna begins. We will meet a woman university rector, hear the calls of market women from Naschmarkt, get to know an Austrian women’s rights activist, learn about the supposedly most beautiful woman in the world and her inventive spirit, and much more.

When walking through Vienna’s neighborhoods, it is always very important to me to make visible the women of Vienna who shaped the genesis of the city in their own way, but unfortunately very often fell into oblivion. So it is also important to bring them to the attention of walkers in Wieden, one of Vienna’s oldest suburbs.
